Cristina Buiza Bueno

Psychology PhD by University Autónoma de Madrid (Spain, 2011) and Degree in Psychology in Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain, 1995), MA in Psychosocial Gerontology from the Universidad del País Vasco (1998) and in Clinical Neuropsychology from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (2004).

She has spent time at centres abroad: Stanford University (Veterans Affair Center, Palo Alto, California, USA), Barrow’s Neurological Institute-Center for Transitional Neurorehabilitation (St. Joseph’s MedicalCenter, Phoenix, Arizona, USA), North Shore University Hospital-Center for Neuropsychological Assessment and Rehabilitation (Long Island, New York, USA) and Myers Research Institute (Cleveland, Ohio, USA).

Her professional and research aims have been focused to the field of aging since more than 10 years. She has worked in residential as well as in clinical diagnostic settings in the Memory Unit at Fundación Matia, and, from its foundation at INGEMA´s research company, in the Cognition unit. She is currently working at Fundación Ingema as a researcher into the elderly and disability; she maintains her clinical activity at the Fundación Matia Memory and Alzheimer Unit.
Cristina has also participated in several national and international scientific conferences, and published papers, book chapters and books related to her research and clinical interests. Moreover, she has worked in the field of research in applied technologies to the elderly people, taking part in multiple national and european projects related to that field. In 2003 she received the “Best Oral Communication” Award at the 5th IAG European Congress of Gerontology, and in 2005, the “Cajamadrid de Investigación” Award for the “Longitudinal study of Alzheimer disease in Donostia : Efficiency of non-pharmacological therapies”.
