David Facal Mayo

PhD in Developmental Psychology (Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Spain) and MD in Clinical Gerontology (Universidad deA Coruña, Spain). He has published several papers about cognitive aging and language in different international and national journals including Acta Psychologica, Language and Cognitive Process, Psychophysiology, Revista de Neurología, Revista de Logopedia, Audiología y Foniatría and Revista Española de Gerontología y Geriatría. In 2007 he was awarded with the Humanitas Prize because of his labor at the Alzheimer’s association in Santiago de Compostela. His areas of interest are: mild cognitive impairment diagnostic cognitive markers, the effect of cognitive training and bilingualism in the process of cognitive aging, and the study of age-related changes in communicative abilities.

His current tasks in Fundación INGEMA includes the participation in the design of the psychosocial health module of the ELES Study and an active role in European research projects such as HERMES – Cognitive Care and Active Guidance for Active Aging  and SRS Multi-Role Shadow Robotic System for Independent Living.
