BA in Psychology and M.S in Social Gerontology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1975 and 1991). She has a long professional career; she worked as a senior government employee in the Instituteof Older Personsand Social Services (IMSERSO) from 1978 to 2008, as Director of the IMSERSO´s Ageing and the Dependency Observatory 1999-2008, and Co-director of Elderly´s Website (Portal Mayores)(2002-2010). She also has worked as expert in Aging and Social Protection of the OCDE (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) (1992-1995) and the Council of Europe (1992-1998), and as coordinator in the WHO´s “Elder Abuse” project (2002-2007), “Ageing well, preventing dependency” Project (SEGG, Obra Social Caja Madrid) and in the reports “Older people in Spain” (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006) (IMSERSO). She was a member of the editorial board of the Law on the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Assistance to Persons in a Situation of Dependency (39/2006 of 14 December, Law of Dependency) and of the Journal of Psycho-social Intervention (Psychologist Association). During 2004-2007 she has been the Vice-Chairwoman of the Spanish Geriatrics and Gerontology Society (SEGG), and is a member of the Technical Committee since 1998. She is member of the awards committee of the Infanta Cristina awards in Research and Obra Social Caja Madridawardsin Social Research. Shehas taught on degree courses about gerontology, social policy, socio-sanitary coordination, living conditions.
Since 2008 she is Fundación INGEMA´s Institutional Advisor. She is an expert in new care models for ageing people.
